Reflections
A client and I recently took a break because her cat was very ill, and sadly, died. If you own a pet, you know it’s not just a “cat,” but like losing a family member. So we needed to take a break.
While she was caring for her feline family member, my client (on her own — was I proud!) — started a list of what it would mean if her house were more organized.
Try this. Reflect on and decide WHY you want to feel more organized.
Or WHAT you’ll do once you and your space or life are more organized.
Guaranteed that you will find that the changes will “stick” far longer than a few sessions of organizing alone.
Here are a few reasons clients have discussed with me, for WHY or WHAT —
It would be easier to cook for us, and to cook in a healthy way — which is becoming more and more important.
We’ve providing employment or giving back.
I’m all about family. I want my (grown) family to come home, feel like they’re AT home and find things easily.
I want more time to figure out what my new career is going to be about.
I can’t clear my mind to think about that with all these paper piles staring at me. I am stuck.
A list helps both of us — we’ll know our priorities, where to start, and most importantly WHY this is all happening. Why it’s so critical to you, now instead of before, now instead of someday.
We’ll know why we’re doing this, so that if we get off track, or “life happens,” then we can get back on track more easily.
So, questions for you … you want to get more organized so that you can … do what?
You want to get or be more organized NOW because … ?
